UAC Theatre Program options for ages 8-14

Production Training Program

The vision of UAC Theatre Production Training Program is to give students the opportunity to experience being part of a production. Students train to build their technique specific to their character and become part of a theatre family. Students will create lasting memories, friendships and build confidence through the theatre arts.

  • Ages: 9–14 years old

  • Requirements: 2 days/week of theatre classes (voice, theatre, movement and specialty classes)

  • Rehearsals: Tuesdays 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. and Thursdays, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

  • Performance: April 2024

  • All-inclusive 4-month tuition: $140/month (January-April)
    Includes: 3-hours of technique classes per week, rehearsals, costume rentals, production fees, professional headshot and cast t-shirt

  • Sibling discounts and partial scholarships available: For more information, email theatre@utartscollective.com

  • All-inclusive tuition does not include: Class attire, performance shoes and tights (if needed), admission fees for friends and family to attend the year-end production

CURRICULUM:

  • Voice: Warm-up, sing in harmony, understanding your voice and performance quality.

  • Dance: Warm-up, posture, understanding line and expression. Dance styles taught include jazz, tap and musical theatre.

  • Theatre: Warm-up, styling, musical focus, projection, stage direction and story-telling.

  • Specialty: Theatre etiquette, stage make-up, costume care, props, backstage and rehearsal for the year-end production.

Production Featured Dancer Program

The vision of UAC Theatre Featured Dancer Program is to give students the opportunity to use their dance ability to express themselves and to be part of a theatre production. Students will create lasting memories, friendships and build confidence through the theatre arts.

  • Ages: 12–15 years old, and enrolled in UAC dance program, level 4-6

  • Requirements: 1 day/week of theatre rehearsal classes (voice, theatre and movement classes)

  • Rehearsals: Mondays 8:00 - 9:15 p.m.

  • Performance: April 2024

  • All-inclusive 3-month tuition: $75/month (Feb-April)
    Includes: 1.25-hours of rehearsals, costume rentals, production fees, professional headshot and cast t-shirt

  • All-inclusive tuition does not include: Class attire, performance shoes and tights (if needed), admission fees for friends and family to the year-end production

FEBRUARY 2024 - APRIL 2024
Auditions: January 29, 2024 — 8:00 - 9:15 p.m.

CURRICULUM:

  • Voice: Warm-up, sing in harmony, understanding your voice and performance quality

  • Dance: Warm-up, staging, story-telling and expression

  • Theatre: Warm-up, theatre styles, musical focus, projection, stage direction and story-telling

THEATRE Training Program

The Vision of UAC Theater Training Program is to create a well-rounded youth theatre-training program. Giving focused, passionate students the opportunity to grow their talent through technique and training. They will have the opportunity to work with industry professionals, create lasting memories and build confidence.

  • Ages: 8–14 years old

  • Requirements: Attend the Fall Theatre Camp, August 15-17 and/or receive a training invitation.
    2 days/week of theatre classes (voice, acting, musical theater dance and specialty classes)

  • Rehearsals: Tuesdays 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. and Thursdays, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

  • Performances: New this years - Winter One-Acts Production-December 2023 and Year-end Junior Production-April 2024

  • All-inclusive 9-month tuition: $130/month (Includes: 3-hours of technique classes, rehearsals, costume rentals, production fees, professional headshot, resume and cast t-shirt)

  • All-inclusive tuition does not include: Class attire, tap shoes, performance shoes and tights, admission fees for friends and family to attend the productions and $50 registration fee per family.

Theatre classes begin TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2023

CURRICULUM:

  • Voice: Warm-up, breath control, vocal styles, sing in harmony, understanding your voice and performance quality.

  • Dance: Warm-up, flexibility, posture, understanding line and expression. Dance styles taught jazz, tap and musical theatre.

  • Tap Technique: Students will improve their musicality, rhythm and coordination in this class while focusing on classroom etiquette, professionalism and working as a group.

  • Theater: Warm-up, theatre styles, improvisation, pantomime, musical focus, projection, stage direction and story telling.

  • Specialty Classes: Theatre etiquette, stage make-up, audition technique, song selection, costume care, props, backstage and rehearsal strategies.

DARICK PEAD -
Darick has recently finished Hello Dolly with Hale Centre Theatre. His National Tour credits include: Falsettos (Standby: Marvin, Mendel, Whizzer), Into the Woods (Rapuzel’s Prince, Florinda, Milky White), and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (Beast). Regional/community: Hale Centre Theatre: The Drowsy Chaperone (Aldolpho), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Freddy). HCTO: Xanadu (Sonny), 110 in the Shade (Starbuck). Darick holds a BFA in Acting from Brigham Young University.

ERIN WILSON -
Erin is a Broadway/Film/Television Actor and Vocal/Audition Coach in New York City. Originally from Southern California, she has performed in almost every state in the United States and every province in Canada.  
With more than 17 years of experience in the business and in NYC acting and teaching, Erin performed with Wicked Broadway and all National Tours over a span of eight years, playing three roles throughout the years.  She also performed with the 1st National Tour of Sister Act and numerous regional theater productions. She recently debuted on the Hallmark Channel in Holiday for Heroes and has had numerous TV appearances on a variety of networks. 

LEVELS:
Students will register by age for the theatre camp.

JUNIOR - ages 8-10
TEEN - ages 11-14
SENIOR - ages 15-16
