uac vision and curriculum
-
It is our belief that we have a responsibility and an obligation to teach students to be confident, have a strong self-image and embrace diversity. We want our students to be excited to learn, explore, to play and communicate with others, to feel free to create, to imagine and, most of all, be prepared for success in education!
-
We explore the alphabet, numbers, colors, theme-based activities, circle time, sign language, creative play, story time, show and tell, arts and crafts, science projects, drama, music, sports/fitness, jungle gym and dance.
-
Our reading specialist works with the students in smaller groups on a weekly basis. This creates confidence and excitement about reading. This, paired with our interactive story time, enhances concentration and discipline and helps with the knowledge of forms and functions of prints and books. Most important of all, students learn that reading is fun.
-
This program offers an introduction to Spanish in a fun, natural and practical way. This is accomplished through music, games, conversational activities, authentic children’s Spanish literature, art and drama. Teachers create an immersion environment where students learn age-appropriate, useful and conversational Spanish in their specific circle time and project of the day.
-
We center our curriculum, arts and crafts, and reading tree around our monthly themes.

We invite our parents to be special guests throughout the year to share with our students their talents, occupations and travels to support our monthly themes.
-
In addition to UAC’s outstanding academic teachers, we have highly-qualified arts educators who specialize in music and dance/jungle gym setting us apart from other programs.
-
The students sing, play instruments and create their own music at UAC preschool. Students also learn basic elements of music, focus on different composers, and music theory.

-
Students in the 4-year-old and Dual Immersion programs, participate in a sports/fitness class once a week. They learn skills associated with focus, balance, concentration and following directions.

This class will focus on the science of reading and get students ready to read! Through hands-on activities, movement games, small group instruction, picture books and more.
-
Our art curriculum introduces your child to artists such as Edgar Degas and Pablo Picasso. They will have the opportunity to explore and express themselves through various forms of art. They will create thematic art projects and build an artist portfolio throughout the year. Our music curriculum will introduce your students to composers such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Edvard Grieg. They will learn to recognize different instruments, tempos and each composer’s musical style.
-
UAC students will focus on early math and science education. They will have hands-on experiences exploring scientific problem solving that are both playful and stimulating.
-
Students ages 3–5 years old, in multiple programs have a break from 12:00–12:30 PM. This is “Lunch Bunch” time—where students bring a sack lunch from home and eat with their friends. The lunchroom is staffed with teachers who assist the students with lunch and get them to their next class.
